"The Strongest in the Universe" Donnie Yen Chi Tan is in Auckland, New Zealand for the Yuen Woo Ping directed Hollywood film CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON 2, which yesterday morning ran into trouble as the studio had a four alarm fire. Two studios were engulfed in flames and the damage was estimated to be over 10 million.

Reportedly, Yen Chi Tan commuted between the two studios for shoots and practices everyday. When the fire took place Chi Tan just completed the day's shoot and returned to the hotel. In less than three hours the studio was on fire and Chi Tan luckily was spared. When he heard that the studio was on fire, he immediately asked his assistant to check if any worker or actor was injured. When he learned that there was no casualty he breathed a sigh of relief, but he could not sleep due to the tragedy.

Chi Tan said, "When I learned that no one was hurt I was much more at ease, but it truly is tragic that both studios were burnt. I can only console myself and say that fire burns thriving ground. I hope from now on everything will go smoothly and thrive. My hotel is only around half a hour from the studio. Everyday I would go to the shoot and the studio next door to work out and practice." Chi Tan continued, the production has not been affected. When he returned to another studio at the location, many firefighters were still on hand. He also provided photos of his earlier sets.

In order to handle the fire, the department sent 18 fire trucks and 60 firefighters and spent several hours to put it out. Reportedly a very elegant set that cost over US$1 million was built in one of the burnt studios. In the other studio was advanced fitness equipment and food for the actors' practice, which was worth HK$ 1 million. Now everything is gone. A conservative estimate of the damage would be over HK$ 10 million.

CROUCHING 2 stars Yen Chi Tan and Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King). Chi Tan played the villain Lone Wolf. Reportedly the U.S. television series GLEE's star Harry Shum Jr. also had a part. Yuen Woo Ping is the director. Film tycoon Harvey Weinstein and X-MEN film series producer Ralph Winter are the producers.

Film star Jeana Ho Pui Yu just finished the film SPECIAL FEMALE FORCE (LAT GAING BA WONG FA) in Malaysia and jumped into another new film SIU JEH YAU SUM as soon as she returned to Hong Kong. In the film Jeana, Philip Keung Ho Man and Jacquelin Chong Si Man performed a "triangle mistake". Playing the third party, she gave her all and sent the wife Chong Si Man retreating. "The director told me that I had to perform like a tiger; very ambitious, flashing teeth and claws at Brother Black, it was quite a test of my acting ability. (Have you been in a love triangle in real life?) An ex ran into the previous girlfriend, she kept calling and texting him. Although in the end we didn't break up over this, at the time I really was unhappy. As a Buddhist, I would first think of others and wouldn't do anything to harm them."

While shooting in Malaysia, Jeana performed "physical labor" under the blazing sun everyday. No wonder she thought it was the "most difficult time in her career". "The team even applied to shoot on location at the national defense department military camp, but with time restrictions. That day we started working early in the morning, everyday we worked for over ten hours. Later even the producer's heart ached for us and took the initiative to give us a day off." This time working with an all woman cast was curiously pleasant. Jeana said that Eliza Sam Lai Heung, Joyce Cheng Yun Yi and others became her friends. As for a magazine claim that they were at odds, she said, "We couldn't be happier, Joyce even cheered everyone up. The rumor was very strange."

To get into character, she gained 16 pounds on her own. However she had to lose weight for SIU JEH YAU SUM and she had health problems. She even missed her period.

Music genius Mark Lui Chung Tak earlier created the theme song and film score for the film GIRLS. Earlier he went to Beijing and promoted the film with leads Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Ivy Chen, Yang Zishan and director Barbara Wong Chun Chun. Director Wong Chun Chun worked with Mark for the first time, praised him for his humor and on screen performance potential. She even planned to design a character for him in the sequel. Mark joked that he was prepared make his film debut. "I don't mind, it's just for fun. (Earlier you ballooned up, this time you are thinner again so you are grasping the chance to perform?) Lately I quit smoking and gained weight again, but no problem, I feel my humor is OK, I can play a funny character."

Speaking of the theme song that Mark created, GETTING OLD TOGETHER, he said that the three girls' experience gave him creative inspiration. "I only did the score after watching the film. Several scenes had great feelings, in particular the break up between Ivy Chen and (Wallace) Chung Han Leung was handled very well."

The film BUT ALWAYS (YUT SUN YUT SAI) will open on September 5. The film yesterday held a "Romantic Qixi" press conference in Beijing. Director Zou XIan attended with leads Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Gao Yuanyuan. The press conference was decorated like the Beijing location where the leads fell in love. Ting Fung and Yunayuan brought back the "Beijing style hook up" as they rode a bicycle together.

Wishing lovers a Happily Ever After on the eve of Qixi, Ting Fung humorously said that speaking of a lifetime, Yuanyuan should be more convincing than him. "After all that has happened over the years, my understanding of love from when I was younger to now is already different. When I was young I feel I have to have it, now I feel OK with blessing it from afar." He also gave a special blessing to the newlywed Yuanyuan. "A lifetime just started, so do the difficulties."

In addition, Ting Fung put in quite an effort in Beijing as he lost weight like mad within 20 days to reach his ideal condition. His "six pack abdominal muscles" have already been unveiled earlier, thus he has been called "Tse Wet Chest" online.

To coordinate with the upcoming Qixi, the leads even gave away a giant size card to send their well wishes in advance. When asked how they would spend Qixi, Yuanyuan said that she has already prepared a gift and would give a surprise then. Ting Fung said, "Valentine's Day may not be spent together. I used to think that only being able to embrace is for a lifetime. As I get older, silent blessing from the heart is enough."

Director Zou Xian revealed that Ting Fung before showing off in the laboratory did all the preparation. Gao Yuanyuan however bashfully said that she did not dare to look at the time. She said that when she shot this scene, they were very nervous and needed red wine and some music to relax a little.

In the film, Gao Yuanyuan looked like she went to the 80s student look. She said that she was the most interesting in the drawers of her older brother at the university. She in particular liked that white shirt era and wanted to return to that beautiful period.

The Barbara Wong Chun Chun directed, Shawn Yue Man Lok, Ivy Chen and Fiona Sit Hoi Kei starred film GIRLS will soon open. Yue Man Lok earlier promoted at Central with Wong Chun Chun. Lok Jai revealed that in the film he played a nice guy. Although he did not say much, he was very attentive and sweet. He even claimed that in real life he was also a nice guy!

With scenes with Ivy Chen only in the film, Lok Jai said that they first met at a karaoke box. In the story they did not know each other, but Ivy Chen went to the wrong room and mistook him for someone. "With other people, they would have left. I played with her all night." He continued that in the film he would buy a variety of breakfast for Ivy Chen to choose and do a lot of attentive things. Would he be just as romantic in real life? Lok Jai admitted, "Once I deliberately flew to New York to have breakfast with my girlfriend. Then I flew away. It probably was very surprising. If even that had no surprise then I would be in trouble. However when I got there I was afraid to see her with someone else. Luckily she wasn't." Has she run into any girlfriend who asked about his family in real life? Lok Jai joked that if he did not ask her back he would be fine. If he truly run into that he would pretend to be poor and ask her for money and see if she would still date him. However he has never run into that. "Gold diggers please move on to the next one, being too materialistic is not likable. (Has a girlfriend check your worth?) She couldn't find anything! Because even I don't know. All the finances are under Mommy's care, but my past girlfriends truly were very friendly with Mommy! Haha!" He also said that Ivy during the shoot was a little nervous with her because they only knew each other for 2 or 3 days before having to work together. However the director before the shoot took them to dinner for them to get familiar with each other. In the film he and Ivy also had hugging and kissing scenes.

In addition, Lok Jai said that working on Ringo Lam Lan Tung's new film was very difficult. In comparison he loved to make romantic films because he was a natural born romantic. He disliked playing violent characters. He even said that he would consider romantic films first.

Irene Wan Bik Ha two nights ago held her birthday party to celebrate her 48th birthday. Irene two nights ago put charity donation boxes and her charity photo book outside for sale. Her husband Ho Cho Kwong and her co-star Rainky Wai Yu Yui attended. She has been receiving birthday wishes since last week, she thanked Heaven for treating her very well.

As for birthday wish, she pointed out that many wishes have already come true like helping even more Mainland children with medical treatment. Her film office will start work on a new film LOVE OF SHANGRI-LA in October.

Irene said that the director wrote the film for her. She would play the character for ten years from her youth to after marriage. She felt that the character resembled her. This year is also her tenth wedding anniversary. She really liked the life and death romance and hoped that it would be able to move viewers. As for lead actor choices, Irene said that many of her former co-stars now have "astronomical" salaries. Thus she would find a Mainland actor and probably a new face because this film will be a small budget production.

Ivy Chen with the film HEAR ME won the Taipei Film Festival Best Actress. Earlier she in the Barbara Wong Chun Chun directed new film GIRLS had another breakthrough as she was determined to explore the Mainland market. In one scene a heartbroken Ivy Chen decided to go skinny dipping as a release. Before the shoot Wong Chun Chun asked her if she would like a double but Ivy Chen declined. She even said that she was fully confident in her body. She also revealed that after a break up she went to England with a friend. She even asked the director if she learned about her past before adding this scene.

On the day of the shoot the temperature was around 10 degrees Celsius, only female workers were on hand. As soon as the director gave the order, Ivy Chen walked as she removed her clothing and got into the water naked. After the shoot, although she was shivering when she got out of the water she still asked the director if she wanted another take. Wong Chun Chun said that she could move a little better. For perfection she did another take.

In another scene Ivy Chen argued with friends Fiona Sit Hoi Kei and Yang Zishan. Ivy Chen was so emotional that tears covered her face. After the shoot stopped she still could not stop crying and needed her co-stars to comfort her before she calmed down.

Ronald Cheng Chung Kei, Anjaylia Chan Ka Bo, Evelyn Choi Wing Yan and Alex Lam Tatk Shun two nights ago attended the film THE SEVENTH LIE (DAI 7 FONG YIN)'s celebration at the Kowloon Cricket Club. The film earlier won two international awards. New director James Hung Ling Jing and producer Tin Kai Man. Tin Gai revealed that the film was a low budget production and thanked the cast for completing it "as a favor".

Ronald thought the story was pretty interesting so he agreed as soon as he heard it. He did not mind performing "as a favor". In the film his character specialized in catching cheaters but unexpectedly he caught his own wife. In real life he had no such experience and has never been caught. Ronald also revealed that next year he has plans to form a film production company that would make any and all genres like this type of small budget films. However for now he had no plan to sign any artist. Anjaylia revealed that this was the first film after she graduated. With a good film or for charity he would not mind performing "as a favor". Speaking of her friend Evelyn's kiss scene with Alex in the film, Anjaylia revealed that Evelyn was so happy she could not sleep the night before because she could kiss a "god". She got to kiss gods in both films that she has made, the last time was Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting). She admitted that her friends were very envious. In addition, Evelyn earlier was caught with her boyfriend on a sweet date. She admitted that she and her industry outsider boyfriend have been together for a year. After the news hit the street, her boyfriend's friends made fun of him but he was not mad. Her heart ached for him instead. She said that she hoped to push a little more in her career, Anjaylia immediately urged her to wed and revealed that they often dined together. They might as well hold a wedding banquet. Evelyn covered her mouth to keep her from revealing anything more.

[2014.07.31] LOUIS KOO DENIES THAT MIRIAM YEUNG IS THE SECOND CHOICE

Louis Koo and Miriam Yeung like the five child actors very much
Goo Jai treats the children to ice cream

Louis Koo Tin Lok, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Richard Ng Yiu Han and Stanley Fung Shui Fan yesterday along with producer Benny Chan Muk Sing and director Kwan Shun Fai attended their film NG GOR SIU HAI DIK HAU JEUNG (HEADMASTER OF FIVE CHILDREN)'s worship ceremony. Chin Wa even led the five child actors in a rendition of LITTLE SUN. Goo Jai gave the children sugar cones as rewards.

Chin Wa in the film played the lowest paid headmaster in all Hong Kong Lui Lai Hung, whose monthly salary was only HK$4,500. Yesterday's school set was constructed from an abandoned school. She praised the art team for a job well done and took their phone numbers. She joked that in the future they could help her son with his arts and crafts. Goo Jai joked that she would be "cheating". Chin Wa argued, "Can I ask where to get the material for a lantern?" She also felt that she was suitable to teach, because after the cameras stopped she continued to be the headmaster and took care of the child actors' needs. Chin Wa revealed that a child actor asked if she was a star, which she denied vehemently and said that she was a teacher. On the set the child actors were very mischievous. During preparation they would yell "action", with any bad takes, they would say, "Headmaster you had a bad take."

Would Chin Wa want to have another child soon? She said, "Let me think about it." She also said that she tried to teach her son with the material in the film, but he just ignored her. Chin Wa also planned to bring her son to play with the sisters at the celebration, but she believed that he definitely would be jealous.

Goo Jai said that this time the child actors were selected from over 400 children, then five assistant directors took care of the five child actors one on one. The crew was even more numerous than THE WHITE STORM (SO DUK) shoot. Yesterday he met the five child actors for the first time, but they picked on him as soon as they saw him. Goo Jai did not mind at all. When he saw a child actor dropped some ice cream, he immediately wiped it off for her with a tissue like a kind father.

Would he like to have children? Goo Jai immediately said, "Two different things." Chin Wa told him to treat it like a practice. Goo Jai said, "I practice all the time, because my relatives have a lot of children." Sammi Cheng Sau Man was originally rumored to play the headmaster role, but because she and Goo Jai were linked in rumors she was afraid of upsetting Andy Hui Chi On. Thus the team approached Chin Wa a month ago. Goo Jai denied the rumor. Chin Wa asked, "Really? Four months before the shoot Goo Jai already asked me."

The Dante Lam Chiu Yin directed cycling film TO THE FORE (POR FUNG) yesterday officially started production in Taiwan. Director Dante Lam Chiu Yin, producer Candy Leung Fung Ying, Eddie Peng Yu-Yen, Choi Si-Won and Shawn Dou Xiao along with lead actresses Wang Luodan, Ouyang Nana appeared. They all wore blue tee shirts with the film title on it as they cut the roast pig and worshiped together. The team earlier shot successfully in Hualien and Taichung. Later they will shoot in Hong Kong, Italy, Korea and the Mainland.

At the production start ceremony, aside from roast pig the crew even prepared 3 big piles of gold brick paper to pray for box office success. Leung Fung Ying joked, "One pile of paper symbolizes 100 million." They hoped for the box office to break 300 million. Lead actor Peng Yu-Yen even pretended that he could not lift up the gold brick in his hand, while Wang Luodan held it tight and refused to let it go. Later the actors decided to toss "300 million" at the director and "leave everything for the director to carry". Lam Chiu Yin awkwardly laughed.

Peng Yu-Yen said that since the shoot took place at home in Taiwan, he had to play host and properly treat everyone. Dou Xiao boldly said that he had to shake off his nickname "crash king" due to the most crashes during training. The final addition to the team Choi Si-Won said, he was very happy to have made several friends during this shoot. Lam Chiu Yin said that the entire team under his training has turned into bicycle experts. He said, "Especially the production team, they can operate a bicycle business." He also thanked all the actors for taking initiatives and being serious. As soon as they had time they trained on their own.

Because TO THE FORE had to display the feeling of professional cyclists, Lam Chiu Yin's heart ached when they were hurt in doing so. He said, "In order to maintain competition speed, they during training were often injured. However I hope that they would maintain their hot blooded condition. Such a long preparation is for the start today, I will bring everyone into the cycling world."

The film in order to display highway race scenes chose to shoot at the famous Meishan landmark "36 curve" on County Road 162A in Chiayi. Earlier due to Typhoon Matmo, the Hualien location was destroyed. The team decided to shoot in Chiayi first and luckily received Chiayi county government's support. The team completed all the application process in a day for the shoot to begin successfully. The authorities said that they were very happy that director Lam Chiu Yin chose the Meishan 36 Curve for the location of his film TO THE FORE and show the audience Meishan's elegant scenery.

Janice Man Wing Shun, Alfred Hui Ting Hung, Fred Cheng Chun Won, Law Chung Him and Tony Hung Wing Sing yesterday unveiled the ONE PIECE exhibit that officially opens today at Causeway Bay Times Square. JM said that when she made her new film HELIOS (CHET DOH), she spent half a year on martial art training. Everyday she did 100 push ups. If she did not have the determination to pursue her dream, she truly could not have endured.

Recently a magazine caught him "smuggling" a man home. JM said that that day was her new company press conference. A friend took her to dinner and an after party, then she drove him home. She was not smuggling. Would she and this man have any chance to develop? She said, "Now I just have a new start at work, I hope to focus on work first. (Do you want to date?) I do, but I also need time to understand and observe. I know the media are very concerned with my love life. I haven't dated in more than a year, I am a little dry but I am in no hurry. (Would the new company prohibit you from dating?) We haven't studied the dating issue, but dating is very normal. If I date I would admit it, I wouldn't talk about it during the observation period. I would wait until it is stable."

Star Gaze Entertainment Group yesterday held a press conference to announce an alliance with two major Korean entertainment companies Kiroy and C2K as well as Mainland music culture group Tianhe Culture. Korean groups BTL, N-Sonic and Ye-A performed. Directors Herman Yau Lai To and Roger Cheng Kin Kwok introduced their new films. Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Dennis To Yu-Hang, Bonnie Lai Yin San and Donny Summer (Ha Siu Sing) showed their support.

Chi Wai and Star Gaze had no plan to collaborate yet but would not eliminate any film collaboration. He and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung were rumored to start a production company, Chi Wai admitted that he had such an intention. Mainly it will focus on post production. Because they were still in negotiation he could not talk about it yet; he also said that he has always liked Ting Fung very much. In film he was Ting Fung's elder, but in post production he was a late comer. Ting Fung has been in the business for many years and done very well. Would he join Ting Fung's current production company? Chi Wai revealed that they would open another one in the Mainland because Ting Fung's company had more work than it could handle and wanted to cultivate more talent. The plan currently was only in its initial stages.

To Yu-Hang earlier settled his contract dispute with Master Checkley Sin Kwok Lam. He will pay back Master the contract termination fee over 1 to 2 years. Now he is arranging for work himself and plan to direct the action on a film with a friend. He might also start a martial art school.

Was he worried that this contract dispute would bring negative effect to him? To Yu-Hang stated that it would not because he and Master were not done for. They only had a lot of misunderstanding between them. He also praised that Master has been great, giving him a lot of opportunities. He hoped that they will work together again in the future. Would his girlfriend financially support him? To Yu-Hang said, "We are just friends, who are you referring to? (Ms. Wu). We are just friends. Sh has given me advice, but work wise I am doing everything myself."
