[2014.07.01] UNIVERSE SUES ELANNE KONG FOR CONTRACT VIOLATION

courtesy of on.cc

Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam and Universe's manager contract dispute remains unresolved. Universe yesterday officially filed suit against the originally named Kong Ling Kong Yeuk Lam and her company Oriental Prosperous International Entertainment for contract violation. The suit stated that Universe remains Kong Yeuk Lam's "worldwide only, exclusive, sole agent and manager." Reportedly, since the contract dispute was exposed, Universe was unable to directly negotiate with Kong Yeuk Lam and felt deeply disappointed and upset. It decided to take action. Because the legal proceedings have already begun, executive Alvin Lam Siu Keung had no comment.

The Paco Wong "commanded" Sun Entertainment reportedly was interested in Kong Yeuk Lam. Paco yesterday denied that. "We have not contacted with her at all."

The Media Asia film BREAK UP 100 (FUN SAU 100 CHI) yesterday held a Beijing press conference and announced its August 1 Double Seventh Festival nation wide release. Director Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui and stars Dior Cheng Yi Kin and Chrissie Chau Sau Na appeared. At the event Ekin and Chau Sau Na both talked about the topic of breaking up. Cheng Tan Shui will lead Ekin, Chau Sau Na and Ivana Wong Yuen Chi on a ten city national "Never Say Break Up" love therapy committee operation to help couples that have broken up, are facing a break up, or are unwilling to break up.

Ekin and Chau Sau Na's characters in the film were "Mr. Definitely Wrong" and "Ms. Always Right". In the poster and trailer, Chau Sau Na and Ekin demonstrated the "strong woman weak man" couple condition. Was he resemble "Mr. Definitely Wrong" in the film? Ekin said that they have similarities, like in life he is very much like a child and needs others to take care of him. He pointed out that two people in love need to rely on each other. She would take care of his shortcoming and he would satisfy her needs. He pointed out that in a relationship, love came first, then came reason. A lot in love could not be explained with reason.

Chau Sau Na did not agree with her character. She felt that a woman could be independent and her own way of thinking, but she did not need to force her man into a corner at every turn. This way both would have a very hard time. She said, "Girls want guys to take care of them too, but some guys never grow up. A relationship requires wisdom, a lot of problem can't be resolved with just arguing and breaking up. Problems in love often are hard to differentiate between right and wrong."

At the event, the trio began an enthusiastic discussion about the "strong woman weak man" relationship in the film. Ekin said that now women in society are more and more capable and have more and more control, thus they become stronger and stronger. This actually is a more common phenomenon, so under this situation, men would become weaker in comparison. He felt that this was an expression of respect and love. Yet in a relationship, often might does not make right and weak is not definitely wrong. Actually right and wrong would be hard to tell.

[2014.06.30] SANDRA NG ACCEPTS AWARD IN NEW YORK

courtesy of mingpao.com

Sandra Ng Kwan Yu received the New York Asian Film Festival Star Asia Award, the first Asian actress to receive the honor. Earlier she, Peter Chan Ho Sun and their daughter Jillian went to accept the award in the U.S. Kwan Yu received applause as she accepted her award and attended the event question and answer segment. Some foreign viewers asked questions in fluent Cantonese, which immediately snapped her out of her jet lag.

At the award ceremony, the event praised Kwan Yu as a "queen of comedy" for her achievements. Kwan Yu said sentimentally during her speech, "I have been making people laugh for 25 years in show business. Today everyone describe me as a queen fo comedy, to me it is a recognition. So In order to thank everyone for their love and support for me, I have decided to make a change starting next year. I will turn to play the sexy, pretty girl roles......" She gave special thanks to her family for their support, in particular to Chan Ho Sun. The audience roared and the host immediately took the chance to invite Chan Ho Sun to the stage to share the joy with Kwan Yu. Kwan Yu was afraid that her daughter would be lonely in the audience and asked her if she wanted to come on stage. Her daughter took her teddy bear and went to the stage without fear, as the family of three accepted everyone's applause and congratulations.

Kwan Yu said that within three months she attended film festivals in Udine and New York, which made her feel that Hong Kong film culture still had a spot overseas. During the question and answer segment, her eyes were wide open. She joked, "Because to the time difference, I was already half asleep. However everyone was very enthusiastic with their questions. The most interesting was, the Chinese people asked questions in English; as I was prepared to communicate with a foreign viewer in English he actually spoke fluent Cantonese. I couldn't switch channel in time and I was immediately awaken. All the jet lag was gone." Half the audience were foreigners. Their questions were not only about her performing journey, but they also were curious about her 38G bust in the film GOLDEN CHICKENSSS (GUM GAISSS). They also wanted to understand what the Hong Kong spirit was.

After the screening, viewers even asked Kwan Yu for photos and autographs. Kwan Yu admitted that she gained a lot from this trip. Aside from an understanding of why foreign viewers were interested in Hong Kong films, she also learned from foreign media foreign film subject trends. That would be helpful to her future as a producer. After accepting the award, Kwan yu and her family officially began their month long U.S. vacation.

Louis Koo Tin Lok and Taiwan star Joseph Chang Hau Chuen, Philip Keung Ho Man, Edward Chui Woai Dong and others two nights ago appeared at Central Statue Square for Ringo Lam Lan Tung's return to film after 7 years BO JAU MAI SING. Director Lam even personally instructed Goo Jai and Hau Chuen before the shoot. Two actors, sweating bullets, listened attentively.

Goo Jai and Chang Hau Chuen doubles for their chase scenes, but they still had to personally perform close up fight scenes. With a gun in his hand Goo Jai angrily hit Hau Chuen until he was on the ground, then he pointed the gun at Hau Chuen. Because the location had a cardboard police car and armored vehicle, many pedestrians and tourists stopped and watched due to its proximity to the MTR station. They often took out their mobile photos to take photos, while the crew was busy trying to stop them.

The Ha Yu produced and invested film ATM TAI FOON GEI last nights held its wrap banquet. Actors Michelle Yim (Mai Suet), Nina Paw Hee Ching, Fung So Bo and Lo Hoi Pang attended. Mai Suet revealed that earlier she and Law Kar Ying went to Singapore for a Cantonese Opera related film. Speaking of Brother Ka Ying's deteriorating health, Mai Suet immediately clarified, "His health is great, he is fine. We went all around for fun and food, the shoot was very relaxing." Mai Suet was guest starring in the Liza Wang Ming Chuen and Damien Lau Chung Yun's new series WA LAI JUEN SUN. Although she rarely worked with Ah Jeh on television, they have had contact on the stage and with the celebrity soccer team. Ah Jeh revealed that Mai Suet was Lau Chung Yun's old flame, Mai Suet said, "I am not telling you!"

Sister Bau revealed that during the ATM shoot, she was busy with Derek Yee Tung Sing's new film DEATH DUEL (SAM SIU YEH DIK GIM) in Hengdian. Did Siu Bo have a bad temper? Sister Bau said that she has heard others talking about it but Siu Bo had not directed his temper at her. Was the shoot very difficult? She admitted that due to poor weather with the heat and the down pour, the rain kept interpreting their shoots. Did the poor weather make Siu Bo grumpy? She said that Siu Bo was not grumpy, only demanding. Although it was very difficult he was able to resolve everything and deserved a lot of the credit. She revealed that DEATH also had a fire scene that will have to wait for good weather. Last night Sister Bau had a lot of red marks on her neck, she said that they were from Gua Sha. Because Hengdian's rice boxes were delicious, she got fat and went for lymphatic cleansing.

Wong Jing yesterday announced online the FROM VEGAS TO MACAU 2 (DOH SING FUNG WON 2) cast. Aside from the earlier revealed Chow Yun Fat and Carina Lau Ka Ling, Nick Cheung and Shawn Yue Man Lok will join the cast; FROM VEGAS TO MACAU's Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Chapman To Man Chak were not on the list. The Mainland online boycott of Ah Jat inevitably played a role, so Ah Jat's ouster was expected. Reportedly Ting Fung got another raise from 15 million to 20 million RMB. Thus FROM 2 looked for another choice.

This time Fat Gor's co-star change to Cheung Ka Fai made the movie even more attractive as people look forward to the Best Actors' collaboration. FROM 2 will have Kimmy Tong Fei, Jin Qiaoqiao and Wu Yue as well as WHERE ARE YOU GOING DAD's child star Angela Wang Shiling. Earlier this year her Lunar New Year film version of the show made almost 700 million yuan RMB in the Mainland. Her draw was nothing to laugh at.

Annie Liu (Lau Sum Yau) yesterday attended Radio Hong Kong's 7th Hong Kong Book Awards. She said that she just started work on Patrick Kong (Yip Lim Sum)'s film SIU JEH YAU SUM (MISS TEMPTING HEART) and played a couple with Pakho Chau; although she did not know if they would have any intimate scene, she felt that as long as the story required it she had no problem. Earlier in her film HUNGRY GHOST RITUALS (LAN YU SUN GUNG) also had bed scenes. Lau Sum Yau stressed that she had a sexy bottom line and would not appear in anything low cut. The director also said that he would not sell sexy.

Earlier fifty fans from Japan, Korea and Hong Kong celebrated with Wai Jai. Because of his Tiger Chinese zodiac sign, they ordered a Tigger cake for him. Wai Jai was very happy to see it, and the fans were filled with joy to be able to celebrate their idol's birthday with him.

Eliza Sam Lai Heung yesterday attended a 2014 Miss Hong Kong pageant recruitment yesterday with Wong Cho Nam and Tracey Chu Chin Suet. This year added a nominator prize. Anyone who successfully nominated a final candidate would receive HK$10,000. Heung Heung earlier was rumored to the target of an actress boycott while working on LAT GAING BA WONG FA in Malaysia. Heung Heung denied that, "I only found out about this report after I returned to Hong Kong. During the shoot everyone was very united and very happy. We six girls helped each other, we were as close as sisters." She said that they communicated through WeChat and she often missed everyone. Was it because the more girls there were the more troubles ensued? She said, "Everyone had a very tough time with the fight scenes, we wouldn't gossip. We would only teach each other how to treat the wounds and recommend Chinese medicine practitioners."

LAT's Jeana Ho Pui Yu last night attended a film event also denied that Heung Heung was boycotted. "I felt that it was very strange. Because Heung Heung, Yun Yi and I belonged to the same team in the film, our relationship was great. We shot in Kuala Lumpur for a month and we were like sisters. We went out and went to the movies together. I don't understand why this rumor would appear. Heung Heung is very friendly. (Are you afraid that you would be mistaken for bullying Heung Heung?) There may be gossip with more girls, but between us sisters we clearly understand each other. I am very happy to have met good friends this time."

Jeana gained weight and got a tan for the film. Claiming that she gained around 17 pounds, Jeana said, "After the movie when I came back, I received many complaints. Because I had to play female SDU, before the shoot I gained weight and completely abandoned the previous bone structure. I even got sick from eating, I am a little worried that I won't be able to get back into shape." She also joked, "The disaster areas are the thighs, the bicep and the belly. Later I will work on Yip Lim Sum (Patrick Kong)'s new film, so I have to repeatedly get back into shape."

Cathryn Lee also worked on the film. Playing a cop she had many crook chasing scenes. She personally performed the stunts and her legs were bruised all over. Recently she posted photos of her "busted" legs on facebook.

The Malaysian Cathryn Lee earlier worked on the film in Kuala Lumpur and received all kinds of bruises from fight scenes. Her legs were not only bruised but also her toe nail was damaged. New wounds appeared before her old wounds healed. "I am afraid that I would become addicted to fighting, I am even training in self defense. During the shoot I didn't go home. After the shoot when I went back, Mommy saw I was injured all over and cried. I am afraid that the scars won't fade. Later I will try laser scar removal. I have also removed anything spicy or greasy out of my diet."

[2014.06.27] BABYJOHN AND CHERRY NGAN PLAY A COUPLE AGAIN

Cherry Ngan Cheuk Ling and Babyjohn (Choi Hong Yik) yesterday dressed up to model the Emperor Jewelry's PAIO wedding rings. They received this series of rings. Because Babyjohn was already married, he said that they would wear it when they would play a couple in a film. He pointed out that this chance might very quickly be fulfilled, because THE WAY WE DANCE (KONG MO PAI)'s director Adam Wong Sau Ping said that when the film made 5 million at the box office he would take them to dinner. Two nights ago when he did he said that he would like them to guess star as a couple in his new film SHE REMEMBERS, HE FORGETS (OI DIK GUNG YUEN).

Babyjohn could buy another ring for his wife. He said that this ring design locked together and represented them. Thus he would not need another. Ngan Cheuk Ling said, "It's so gross, I am shivering just from hearing it. You don't need to be so open." Earlier Babyjohn was rumored to be a father soon. He denied that and said that they had a plan, but it would not be right now. Work came first right now. Later he will have additional shoots for SPL II (SAT POR LONG 2). He even joked that he was "Chicken Little on the Set". For his first gun scene, he asked if he could test the gun first. Ngan Cheuk Ling looked envious that Babyjohn was able to make an action film. With her dance background she wanted to be an action actress.

Sandra Ng Kwan Yu earlier received the New York Asian Film Festival's Star Asia Award, the first female Asian star to receive the award. Yesterday she, Peter Chan Ho Sun and their daughter headed to New York to accept the award and for a family vacation.

Kwan Yu said that she and her daughter would stay for a month as they would visit New York, Los Angeles and other places. Chan Ho Sun would only stay for five days because he had to rush back for his new film DEAR's post production work. She revealed that she asked her daughter for English help. She said, "I wrote a speech, my daughter taught me how to make it sound better, like whether to use the English or the American accent." She also praised that her daughter had a mind of her own more and more. Earlier when they were packing their luggage, her daughter would say what to bring and what not to bring. Thus now she did not dare to shop for her daughter's clothes. Did she prepare anything sexy to wear? She joked, "Nothing low cut, nothing that would show my legs, hahaha!"

[2014.06.26] SAMMI CHENG HAS A SIMPLE FARMER LIKE PLAN

courtesy of mingpao.com

Sammi Cheng Sau Man in the latest issue of the woman magazine Jessica talked about her first film with Nick Cheung Ka Fai, TEMPORARY FAMILY (SUT LUEN GUP YEUNG). She said at the Beijing press conference that the experience was good. She even joked, "The difference between the feeling of kiss scenes with Andy Lau Tak Wa and Cheung Ka Fai was the different flavor!" She lightly directed the atmosphere of the entire event and again displayed her intelligence. "I seem to have full of ideas, but actually I like an empty mind the most. I look at everything from the simple angle." She said that at now at this stage of life she needed proper balance of body and mind as her strength was limited. "Do my best and let God handle the rest. I am like a farmer, work as the sun rises, rest as the sun sets."

Sammi's new film was another love story, with Cheung Ka Fai, Angelababy and Mainland actor Oho Ou. The cast was completely fresh. In the film real estate agent Ka Fai wanted to make a killing from home speculation but ran into government restriction of the property market. She had to move in with a strange woman and thus a light and humorous story ensued. The film's theme brought out "life's many possibilities". Already labeled a "successful artist", Sammi's life goal was very simple. "Do my best on every job, live well in life. Care more about other's needs, listen to and respect more different voices." Lately she has been even more active in the film industry. She said that she did not deliberately plan the transition. "I never plan to move the center of my career. Maybe it's only state of mind changes and evolution. To me, to break through myself on a certain level I have to jump out of my own comfort zone. I cannot afraid of hardship and the unknown in order to build another new world or even me."

Gordon Lam Ka Tung and Janelle Sing Kwan two nights ago attended the Hong Kong celebration for their film Z STORM (Z FUNG BO). Yesterday they flew to promote in Taiwan. At the press conference, Ka Tung even was asked to reprise his scene in which he tossed money at DaDa Chan Jing. Sing Kwan wanted to try it too and in the end they kept throwing prop money at each other. Then they threw it at reporters. Ka Tung also took the chance to play a prank on Sing Kwan. He said that he wanted to teach her how to toss money. Sing Kwan stood still and waited for Ka Tung's advice when he threw all of the prop money in his hand at her face. Sing Kwan was "naturally stunned" and did not know how to respond. Ka Tung was afraid that she might be upset and immediately apologize to her, but Sing Kwan said that she was not mad at Ka Tung. She just did not know how to react.

Ka Tung said that he was just trying to cheering up the event, luckily Sing Kwan was not mad. Would he take Sing Kwan to dinner to make up for it? He joked, "Dinner of course is no problem, I know she likes spicy food very much. Maybe after work we will have spicy hot pot casserole with the promotional team." Two nights ago at the celebration Ka Tung won HK$500 from the lucky drawing. Boss Raymond Wong Pak Ming gave anyone who did not win a prize HK$500.

This Was Sing Kwan's first promotion in Taipei. She admitted that she benefit a lot. Their promotional methods were very special, the press conference was a game show and a lot of fun. Ka Tung had to throw money at her and her leg length was measured at the event, she said that it was not awkward. It was a lot of fun instead. She understood Taiwan viewers might not know her, this way reporters could take more photos of her. Working with Louis Koo Tin Lok and Ka Tng in the film, she admitted that if she could choose she would choose Ka Tung. Because she liked humorous guys who liked to laugh.

This is a story about the biggest financial fraud attempted in Hong Kong, directed at the Government of Hong Kong and involved all 7 million Hong Kong citizens…No one is free from the scheme.

When the wife of an up-rising star Superintendent of police force reported his corruption simply out of bitterness for being ill-treated, little did she know she is about to pull the head string from a very well weaved web of deceive, greed, sex, power, and last but not least, fear.

The ICAC agent William Luk who took charge of the simple complaint felt otherwise...It’s his passion for justice that has been driving him all these years in the battle against bribery and corruption, even after losing his beloved wife.

Further investigation soon revealed many un-answered questions and loose ends...The death of Law Tak Wing, an ex-godfather status accountant of Hong Kong, the threats to even the seemingly harmless witnesses and informers, and the surfacing of Angel, an attractive but mysterious lady that has all connections with Luk’s wanted list...As Luk dug deeper into the web, he is being hunted by trained foreign mercenaries; a tactic very seldom or never heard of in the history of Hong Kong’s underworld!

This time, Luk has to face many opponents: high profile chartered accountants, high ranking law enforcers, power lawyers, the super entrepreneurs; they all have their shares of play, but none can really grasp the big picture; they are there only for what they desire most.

Karena Ng Chin Yu, Wong Yau Nam, Prudence Liew (Lau Mei Kwan), Raymond Wong Pak Ming and his son Edmond yesterday attended the film WONG KA YUN's production start ceremony. Chin Yu revealed that the film was a 90s love story. She and Yau Nam would turn from friends into lovers, but this on screen couple looked very awkward together during the photo opportunity. Yau Nam even appeared to be caught off guard. Chin Yu joked, "I don't feel awkward, only he does. Although it is our first collaboration, we have seen each other several times. I feel he is very active and a good talker."

Would Chin Yu have any intimate scene in the film? She admitted that she would take the initiative and get close to him, but since it was a romantic film it would have too many. Did her boyfriend prohibit her from making intimate scenes? She said no, she even said that in comparison to her boyfriend hers were very minor. "His intimate scenes were much sharper, so he had no reason to mind mine. In addition he has acted for so many years, he knows what is going on. I believe that he is rich in intimate scene experience. (Would you rehearse with your boyfriend?) No, but I have studied the script with him and listened to his advice. However the discussion was very awkward." As for Raymond Lam Fung's injury, Chin Yu said that it was an old wound so immediate recovery would be difficult. Now every week he still has to see a doctor for physical therapy.

Yau Nam denied that he felt awkward while posing for photos with Chin Yu. He explained that he did not know how to pose. Was he worried that he would upset Lam Fung? He said, "No, everyone knows she is his, and I know him anyway." He also felt that Chin Yu was very talkative and believed that their collaboration would have spark. In addition, he also cut his always long hair short for this performance. He said that it was already his personal limit. After 14 months away from Hong Kong, Lau Mei Kwan was actually playing grandmother in the U.S. This time the script attracted her back to perform in Hong Kong. Was the offer substantial? She joked, "I got heavy metal!" She honestly said that she had a lot of fun looking after her grand child. "I don't have to give birth, I don't have to be responsible, I can spoil it without upsetting myself. It is a lot of fun. (Would you miss your grand child?) So I ask them to finish my scenes three to four weeks, at the same time I have postponed my album recording to next year. I don't want to miss the first year of my grand child's growth."
