The Hong Kong Film Development Council in the first season of this year will implement film development fund optimization and release multiple large scale events to promote Hong Kong films. Yesterday a press briefing was held in Wanchai with many film industry representative like Hong Kong film development Council chair So Chak Kwong, vice chair Peter Lam Kin Ngok, committee member Raymond Wong Pak Ming, Chan Kwok Sun, Chan Lai Ying, Lok Kim Ming, Tam Kwok Ming and other directors and producers in attendance.

AVATAR's global box office success made 3D movie a trend. The council's Hong Kong International Film and Television Market will under the banner of Hong Kong Film New Action promote Hong Kong's 3D film production technology, establish Hong Kong 3D film production exhibits, hold Asia Visual Effect and Digital Post Production Summit, 3D film production and post production workshops and 3D movie technology forum. Hopefully through these events the market will demonstrate to the world Hong Kong'd 3D film production technology and achievements, attract overseas investors and promote Hong Kong as the 3D movie production center of Asia.

Lam Kin Ngok said that an all 3D movie production is costly and definitely far more than the government sponsorship. The Mainland has already built many 3D cinemas and Hong Kong has to coordinate in support. Speaking of investment amount and technical problem, he said that ultimately 3D movie costs are higher and have no actual number to base on. Wong Pak Ming also expressed interest in investing in 3D movies and even expressed that a Mainland film company invited him to turn IP MAN 2 into a 3D movie, but he felt that he must conduct complete research. Hong Kong and Mainland has a lot of talent. 3D movies will be the future trend, only 3D action films will be able to attract viewers. As for Eric Tsang Chi Wai's claim that 72 TENANTS OF PROSPERITY (72 GA JO HAT) will deliberately face ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2010 (FA TIN HEI SI 2010) head on, he joked, "Let's wager a meal, everyone should be evenly matched."
