Hong Kong director Yonfan's PRINCE OF TEARS has not been officially released in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan but already has good news. After qualifying for competition in this year's Venice Film Festival, yesterday it also became the Hong Kong representative for the Oscar Foreign Film nomination consideration. This 20 million, five year long production epic already has reached the pinnacle of international artistic achievement.

Earlier Yonfan led the four leads Joseph Chang Hau Chuen, Fan Jik Wei, Terri Kwan Wing and Oceana Zhu Xuan to the film's Venice Film Festival premiere. The film received international film critic praise after the screening and was considered one of the favorites for the Golden Lion prize. The film will also participate in the Toronto International Film Festival and the Pusan International Film Festival.
